What people say about Thanh Long Restaurant
For many years now, the main reason why guests keep coming back to Thanh Long is because of two items that the restaurant serves: the roasted Dungeness crab and the incredibly garlicky noodles. The review often says that the pairing is overindulgent and messy in the most perfect way possible, all while the staff continues to serve the meal efficiently through their usual hospitality. However, the price of the crab is quite high, and the garlicky nature is purposely overbearing, but those who appreciate the specialty dishes see the restaurant as a tradition of San Francisco.
About Thanh Long Restaurant
Thahn Long is a family-owned Vietnamese restaurant located on the Outer Sunset in San Francisco and the birthplace of An’s Famous Garlic Noodles. Founded in 1971, it serves the garlic noodles with a whole roasted crab, prawns, fish, and other Vietnamese cuisine.
A traditional combination would be crab for the table with garlic noodles, as well as either one vegetable or fish and rice dish. This is quite an indulging combination, and hence dining in shares tends to be better than having multiple heavy dishes.
Thanh Long is appropriate for family dinners, gatherings with visitors and celebrations where the crabs and garlic noodles are the focus. Booking is possible via the current reservation system of the restaurant.
