What people say about Nom Wah Tea Parlor

Diners appreciate the classic Chinatown decor, the old-fashioned tea parlor ambiance, the dumplings, scallion pancakes, egg rolls, and the opportunity to dine in a space that has over 100 years of history. Reviews are more varied regarding the service and inconsistency when the place is crowded, although many diners enjoy the ambiance and the simple dim sum. The wait may grow longer on weekends and during holiday periods.

Restaurant overview

About Nom Wah Tea Parlor

Nom Wah Tea Parlor has been around in Doyers Street since 1920, and it is among the well-known dim sum restaurants in New York City. The menu includes dumplings, rice rolls, buns, turnip cake, noodles, fried rice, Chinese greens, tea, and sweets, both steamed and fried.

The historical room is part of the experience; hence, this is as much of a Chinatown experience as it is a quick dim sum lunch. The best approach is to order many small dishes and share at the table instead of ordering each dish for yourself.

Reservations are taken via Resy for parties of three to five on weekdays only. Walk-ins are for groups of two only.
