What people say about Le Coucou

The candle-lit room, romance, and unabashedly French menu are usually mentioned first before any other features. Dishes like quenelle de brochet, lobster, rabbit, sweetbreads, and classic desserts get lots of love along with informed service. There is a weightiness to the richest dishes that not everyone will appreciate, and the bill is firmly special occasion fare. But if you are after classic French technique, then you know why you are there.

Restaurant overview

About Le Coucou

Le Coucou serves up the cuisine of Daniel Rose using classic French techniques in the Soho neighborhood of New York at 138 Lafayette Street. Rather than making everything modern, the kitchen embraces sauces, organ meat, seafood, birds, and other preparations that are not as common in New York.

The dinner menu at Le Coucou can be ordered à la carte, making this restaurant far more flexible for fine dining than most tasting rooms. Fixed-price lunch options are available as well as a “Very Coucou” experience.

A very good choice for a date, an anniversary, or if you are specifically looking for French dining downtown in Manhattan. Reservations are through Resy.
